St. Catherine's LIVE!

In keeping with our Mission to foster the development of the mind, body and spirit of our girls, St. Catherine’s offers an After-School Enrichment Program for St. Catherine's girls in kindergarten through grade 6. These after-school classes have been designed to give students the opportunity to explore activities of particular interest. Whether just for fun or to develop knowledge and skills, there are many great extracurricular programs available for our girls. All classes will be held at St. Catherine's and students in lower school will be escorted to their classrooms for the afternoon.

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution – Edible Education – Dining Hall
Grades K - 2
Monday 2:45 – 4:00 p.m., $140 (optional apron $10) April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13
Become an official ambassador for Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day Mission and prepare fresh, local foods that Jamie and the other ambassadors are cooking all over the world this spring. You will prepare tasty foods from spinach and strawberry salads to veggie fritters and power smoothies with sponge cakes with berry glaze.  Emphasis is on safety, sanitation and the fun of cooking!  Everyone will receive an insulated tote bag and electronic recipes.
 
Taste of SPARC II: Tell the Tale – SPARC – Lower School Assembly Room

Using movement, narration and original material you will “Tell the Tale” of well-known fairy tales and fables in a brand new way. Fun-filled games teach basic theatre skills such as speaking solo and in unison, communicating without words, and creative movement while learning how to focus on physical awareness, self-control and personal boundaries along the way.
 
Maymont’s Animal Investigations – Maymont Nature Center – Room 104

Are you crazy about animals? Then Maymont’s Animal Investigations is a perfect match! Through experiments, games, and crafts you will be introduced to a variety of Virginia animals. Each week, a new animal visitor will join your class.
 
Gadgets and Gizmos – Bricks 4 Kidz – Room 106
Grades K-2

Learn the principles of science, technology, engineering and architecture utilizing motorized LEGO models. Gadgets and Gizmos is all about the fun of doing something with what you’ve built. From a spinning top to a spin art model, you will love playing with your creation!

Join your friends for fun, fitness and camaraderie! We strive to teach goal-setting, build self-esteem, and educate young girls about making healthy choices through a running based experience. All ability levels are welcome.
 
How to Audition – SPARC – Lower School Assembly Room

Join this introductory class on how to prepare for auditions. You will be guided through the selection of the perfect monologues and songs for your “audition arsenals”, then coached during rehearsal of your audition pieces. Instruction on resume and headshot preparation will complete the course, arming the young performer in you with everything you need for your first (or next!) audition.

Toy Design Workshop – Curious Jane
April 13
One of our most popular CJ themes! Girls get busy exploring the concepts of play, toy and design using a variety of fun materials. In this workshop you will create your own miniature environments and scale figures. You will design abstract play-scapes for their imagined characters -- paying attention to material choice, color, construction and composition.


Lab Science Workshop – Curious Jane
April 20
Become spa scientists in this lab science workshop while using basic science techniques to create a few pampering goodies to take home. You will measure and mix to make your own fizzing bath bombs, sweet lip smackers, and shake 'em salt scrubs. Learn the science behind why these spa treats fizz, foam, bubble and pop. You will learn about polymers, proteins and more -- and what happens when you combine them!

DIY (Design It Yourself) Your Room Workshop
May 4
Design-it-yourself… funky fashion for your room! You will create one or two fun decorative accessories to add your own personal style to their space. Favorite projects include colorful window hangings, super-size pillows, t-shirt throw rugs, colorful desk-top organizers. You will be introduced to a variety DIY techniques in constructing your colorful creations!
